We've finally made it to hong kong (me and paul), the
weather is a bit damp, but still 32degrees! we arrived
yesterday lunch time and got a train to kowloon.
Staying in a luxury hotel... i like this backpacking
idea! :)

Went out last night for an amazing meal, ordered way
too much thinking it would be quite small potions...
oops... there must have been enough for a family of
5!!
I am currently sat in a coffee bar on the peak of hong
kong island, the veiw is fantastic... although it must
be said that i miss not being in work... heh heh!!! :)

We came over to hong kong island on the star ferry, it
was a bit choppy.

We are going to come back over to the peak tomorrow
night to take some pics of the city lit up!

We took a taxi to Sik Sik Yuen - Wong Tai Sin Temple
which is situated right in the middle of a high rise
housing estate that makes Hartcliffe look like a
country village... The temple practises the three main
religions of china, budism, taoism and confucianism.
Was very busy, lots of people praying and lighting
joss sticks. There was a moment there that tickled me,
when Paul tried to ask directions from one of the
monks (im sure they take a vow of silence), but Paul
was quite persistant and in the end the monk just
pointed us away.

We then took a train, (using the easiest train system
ive ever used) to Kwun Tong district to the Lie Yun
Mun Seafood Bazaar, which is a fishing village that
specialises in fresh seafood.

The idea is that you
walk around, decide which of the little (sometimes
big) fish, lobster, eel you wish to eat (by the way,
they are still swimming around in tanks). You buy the
fish then take it to which ever restaurant you wish to
eat in and then they prepare it for you.

Well, we didnt quite get the grasp of this concept
until after we had ordered sweet and sour pork, beef
malaysian noodles, fried rice and fried vegetables...
yes, we'd done it again... the meal was HUGE!! d'oh!

We then took the Ya Tong ferry to Quarry Bay (Hong
Kong island) walked along north point then took a cab
to Lan Kwai Fong for a nice couple of pints of ice
cold beer! (even in the evening it is 28degrees). Came
back to kowloon on the Star ferry then back to the
hotel for a couple more aperitifs...
