We
took a train (the cheapest yet! 19
baht, about 34p) for an hour and a half to Prachet
Khiri Khan. This is maybe what Hua Hin was like around
10 years ago... there were very few tourists, the
atmosphere was very laid back and trafic was not at
all busy...

We stayed in a guest house above a garage
workshop, had to walk through the workshop to get to
the room. (250 baht, just over 2 pound each...
bargain)

(Mum don't read the next part!) as it was so quiet we
hired motorbikes, getting the bike was strange in
itself... I was stood outside the honda shop, being
sunday morning it was closed... when a policeman
walked up to me and asked if I wanted to hire a
motorbike. he said he could get one for 200 baht for 24
hours (about 3.20 ish) so we tried on shop, they
wanted 300 baht, he then flagged down a taxi (man on
moped) I got on, so did the policeman and we rode to
the place where I eventually got the bike (it must
have looked like something from the goodies!)

Later i took paul and he also got one (100cc, honda
clunks - reminded me of being 16 again), we then rode
about 15km south to a thai airbase, signed in, drove
through the base to a beach called Ao Manao, which is
a huge sandy cove which has only recently been opened
to the public. The weather was excellent and the tans
are coming on now!

After dropping the bikes off, we
climbed up a small mountain to the north of Khiri
Khan, where there is a monestry on top and lots of
wild monkeys... the view was fantastic!
