We
left KL and took a trip that seemed days on a bus
with the worlds smallest legroom up to the Cameron
Highlands in a place called Tanah Rata. The road was extremely
narrow and very windy.

Tanah Rata is a town built along the main road through
the highlands and is made up from 3 cultures, malay, chinese
and indian people which makes for a varied choice at meal
times!

The Cameron Highlands are an excellent place to relax
and also to do some hill walks and light trekking. We set of
a couple of times with a predrawn route and managed to do
a completely different route altogether.

We stayed
there for almost a week. It
was very cold compared to Kuala Lumpur, was 22 degrees
as opposed to 35! So we wore coats and trousers!

The
views were great and we tasted fresh tea at the local
tea plantation (Boh Tea... nothing to do with Ali G!).
The plantations stretch for miles over the landscape
like a blanket of fingerprints.

We also took a guide tour around a rose farm and a
honey bee farm, sampling some of the produce.

And then moved on to a butterfly and insect farm which
had hundreds of different types of butterfly and insects
that can be found all over Malaysia including some rather
scary looking beetles, scorpions and spiders.

We also visited a local temple, they are starting to look
very similar at this point of our travels!
